The fit philosophy
A refined shoe should hold the foot without pressure, follow the natural line of the arch, and leave enough room for movement through the day. Use this page as a practical fitting reference before choosing your next pair from Velessa.
Measure at home
Feet can expand slightly through the day. Measure when your foot is naturally settled, especially for heels, pointed toes, and fitted flats.
Place your foot flat on paper, trace around it, and measure from heel to longest toe. Use the larger foot as your reference.
If your toes press outward or the side of the foot feels compressed, consider a softer silhouette, open toe, or a style with more front volume.
Fit reference
Use this as guidance for selecting a style. Exact fit may vary by construction, toe shape, lining, and the way you prefer to wear your shoes.
The heel should feel held, while the front of the shoe should not pinch the toes. A slight snugness is normal in structured evening styles.
Flats should follow the foot closely without curling the toes. If the back slips with each step, the fit may be too long.
Your foot should sit centered on the sole, with straps resting flat and no edge pressure around the toe or ankle.
Comfort signals
When trying a new pair, walk on a clean indoor surface and notice pressure points early. The best fit feels supported through the heel, relaxed through the toes, and steady through the arch.
Fit questions
Not always. Pointed shoes often feel closer at the front because of the silhouette, but sizing up may create heel slipping. Use your foot length first, then consider toe shape and width.
The back of the shoe should feel secure without digging. A heel that lifts dramatically while walking is usually too long, while a heel counter that presses sharply may be too tight or too rigid for your foot shape.
Consider the shoe type. For sandals and open silhouettes, a closer fit may look cleaner. For sneakers or closed styles worn with socks, the larger option can feel more comfortable through the day.
